The game was played in rain with temperatures in the high 30’s.
Greer plays Daniel, a 36-14 winner over Daniel in next Friday’s 4A Upper State finals at Dooley Field.
Jakyre Kerns intercepted a Ridge View pass after it started the second half gaining three straight first downs. Kerns was in position to pick off Javon Anderson’s pass that just quite cleared the line of scrimmage. Kerns returned it to Ridge View’s 18-yard-line.
Williams gained the final yards in the short drive to give Greer its victory.
Ridge View’s Nick Lawyer kicked a 33-yard field goal with 7:39 remaining in the first quarter that held up as the lead until Williams’ run. Edwin Sales’ missed extra point kept Ridge View until Williams run.
Williams ran for 136 yards on 29 attempts, with a 4.7 yard per carry – less than half what he has been averaging this season. Matthew Huff completed his only pass to Braxton Collins for five yards.
Ridge View held Greer’s potent offense to only 157 yards total – 3.4 yards per play.
