Mazzie Drummond steps into the girls varsity head coach's role next season, replacing Carlton Greene, who announced his retirement last month. Greene coached the varsity girls for 25 years.
Carlton Greene retired after coaching the Greer girls for his 25th season this year.
Drummond assisted the girls basketball teams the past five years while also taking on the duties of assistant football coach/offensive coordinator and he is a coach with boys track.
He reportedly will resign track and field to coach football and basketball in the 2015-2016 school year.
Drummond graduated Greer High School as a standout in three-sports – football, basketball, track. He graduated Newberry in 2007 and within three years, coaching at Southside High School, he settled in his hometown in 2010 where he coached the same sports where he was a standout. Drummond was all state in football and basketball.
Drummond was inducted into the Greer High School hall of fame in 2011.
