Hicks, who has a tendency of getting shoulder stingers when making big hits, suffered one in the last meeting with Union. Hicks also had a stinger last week but both times he remained in the game as the pain subsided. “They are really painful. You get them when you get hit a certain way,” Young said. “John is a tough kid.”

“Our defense has been playing well since the middle of the season,” Young said. “There’s not a whole of room to change up defensively. They have a lot of confidence and the defensive line comes to play.”

Young said playoffs are a time to finesse his team’s play, not to make wholesale changes. “We’ll focus on our game and do our job,” Young said.
