Sub-freezing temperatures made this fountain into an ice sculpture.

This ice sculpture in downtown Greer at CBL State Savings Bank on Trade Street is witness to temperatures in the low 20s Monday night that froze the water at this fountain.

A winter weather advisory has been issued for part of the Upstate mountains, and parts of the foothills of Western North Carolina.

A brief period of sleet mixed with rain is forecast between midnight and 7 a.m. Wednesday. Sleet is forecast north of I-85 in the Upstate. Ice accumulation is expected to be .10 inches or less, according to the National Weather Service.

Drivers are advised to be cautious as a light glaze of ice may form some slick spots on bridges and overpasses.

Rain will continue and is expected to become heavy as temperatures climb to the upper 30s.
