The Greer Inland Port handled a record 103,639 rail lifts in 2016, an increase of 38 percent over the previous calendar year.
That means the inland port averaged 8,886 rail moves a month.
A total of 110,000 rail moves is projected for the Greer port in fiscal 2017.
The SCPA Board of Directors, last June, approved $2.2 million toward expansion at the inland port – $1.6 million in fiscal year 2017 and $600,000 to complete the expansion in FY 2018.
A second inland port facility is being constructed in Dillon to better serve the I-95 corridor.
