Tuesday night was a good time to appear before City Council. Everything passed 7-0 in near-record time when no one spoke in favor or opposition in the public forum or on agenda items.
No one spoke in favor or opposition to any ordinance, appointments and all actions were approved unanimously, 7-0.
In a nutshell, here’s what you need to know:
• No one spoke in favor or opposition at public hearings repealing the public works fee ($75) for the new sanitation fee ($115).
• Ditto for the $22.6 million FY 2016-2017 budget.
• Miles Nason was reappointed as the Spartanburg County representative to the Greenville-Spartanburg Airport Environs Planning Commission.
• David Langley was reappointed to the Board of Architectural Review.
• Don Foster was reappointed as the District One commissioner to the Planning Commission.
• Kevin Tumblin was reappointed as an at-large commissioner to the Planning Commission.
Second and final readings approved:
• 2010 Comprehensive Plan with 2015 Review supplement.
• Change zoning classification of property at 414 Jones Avenue from I-1 (industrial) to RM-2 (residential multi-family).
• Fee changes the public works fee ($75) for the new sanitation fee ($115).
Note: Councilman who has been the lone dissenter for the public works fee the past four years made the motion to approve.
• $22.6 million FY 2016-2017 budget.
• A. S.C. Dept. of Justice Memorandum of Agreement, securing detention services with for fiscal year 2016-2017.
