Jack Mansure, son of Greer Memorial Hospital CEO John Mansure, passed away suddenly on Tuesday morning, July 14th, 2015. The Mansure family, who are deeply active in the community, have received an outpouring of love and support from the town of Greer during this most difficult time.
"John and his family are near and dear to the Greer community," said Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce CEO Mark Owens. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family. He's such a great family man and always quick to tell a fun story about his family or share pictures."
Jack, a 2009 graduate of Greenville High School, graduated from the College of Charleston with a BS in Biology and was currently working on his post-graduate degree in Bio-Chemistry. Jack was beloved for his kindness, sense of humor, and his inquisitive nature which had led him towards a career in science.
Bonne Johnson, chief nursing officer at Greer Memorial Hospital, took time to express her condolences as well as those of the Greer Memorial staff.
"The Mansure family is in the thoughts and prayers of many across GHS," she said. "John Mansure is a respected leader in our organization, and it doesn’t take long for anyone talking to him to recognize the love and pride that he has for his family."
Funeral arrangements for Jack are being conducted by Mackey Mortuary with John and his wife Ruth receiving friends and visitors on Friday, July 17th, from 5-8 P.M. Funeral services will take place on Saturday at 4 P.M.
While Jack's sudden passing is a tragedy and marks a time of sadness for the Greer community, even those who did not know Jack personally knew he was a special person by the way others spoke fondly of him.
"I never had the chance to meet Jack but I know the Mansure family is so great for our community and John has been so great to me personally," added Owens. "I really feel for them in such a sad time."
Greer Mayor Rick Danner also extended hope that the Mansure family would find comfort within the community during their time of grief.
"I hope (John's) faith, family, and friends, including the Greer community, will bring him comfort during this time of sorrow," he said.
