Jolly's death creates special election to fill vacancy of Wade Hampton Fire District

Due to the untimely death of John Jolly, Commissioner on the Wade Hampton Fire and Sewer District, a special election will be conducted to fill the vacancy for the remainder of the term, through December 2019. 

The special election is scheduled for Aug. 30. This is a non-partisan election. 

Jolly, 59, died Friday, June 3. He worked as a senior credit review analyst with Synnex. He also served three terms as a Fire Commissioner with the Wade Hampton Fire District.

For registered voters who live in the Wade Hampton Fire and Sewer District wishing to offer to serve the unexpired term, filing for the special election opened Friday, June 24. Filing will close at July 5.

Possible candidates will present themselves to the Greenville County Voter Registration and Election Office, at County Square, 301 University Ridge, Suite 1900. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
