Dr. Brendan Kelly is the new Chancellor of the University of South Carolina Upstate. He currently is Vice President for University Advancement at the University of West Florida in Pensacola.
Harris Pastides, President of the University of South Carolina, sent a letter to Upstate faculty, staff and students Monday to announce that Kelly was unanimously approved by the USC Board of Trustees.
Kelly will be introduced at a new conference at USC Upstate on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Interim Chancellor Mary Anne Fitzpatrick will introduce Kelly.
Kelly is described as an accomplished scholar and academic leader. He serves as the Vice President for University Advancement at the University of West Florida in Pensacola, where he has led the units of University Marketing & Communications, Alumni Relations, and Development and Community Engagement.
Kelly earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations and a master’s degree in communications from Eastern Michigan University, and a doctorate in rhetoric and political communication from Wayne State University in Detroit.
Doug Foster has also been announced as Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer (CIO). Foster serves as Associate Vice President for IT and Deputy CIO at Purdue University and has over 25 years of experience in higher education and in private sector IT leadership roles.
