Smiling faces emojis on billboards were the marketing brainchild of the Bojangles' campaign 'It's Bo Time!'
Bojangles’ for weeks has had smiley faces posted on billboards in the Upstate without a clue it was for the fast-food company with the marketing moniker “It’s Bo Time!”
The simple yellow ads with black emojis on billboards have popped up on Fairway billboards in Greer and other upstate locations.
Fairway issued a statement in August saying they were "pumped about the campaign but unwilling to reveal its purpose yet." That was the only clue until Friday.
That’s when Bojangles’ marketing arm sent this media release:
“The Bojangles’ experience is about putting smiles on the faces of our fans, and bringing people together over great food. We are excited that this campaign with Fairway Outdoor has made so many people happy, and we invite everyone to visit us at one of our local Bojangles’ restaurants. We are proud to do business in the Upstate, where it’s always Bo Time!”
