Mark Owens elected President and CEO of consolidated Wnston-Salem business organizations.
Owens was former President/CEO of the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce. He began with the Winston-Salem chamber in 2017.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed Wednesday by the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce and Winston-Salem Business, Inc., agreeing to consolidate the two non-profit organizations with Owens, the chamber CEO elected to lead the group.
Bob Leak, 60, president of the Winston-Salem Business, Inc., will continue until the consolidation. He will not work with the new organization.
WSBI handles outside recruiting to bring employers to the city while the chamber works with existing businesses in the city.
Owens said the consolidation should make it easier for Winston-Salem to attract new business and manufacturing to the city.
