Mauldin's Alyssa Johnson national semi-finalist
Mauldin High School’s Alyssa Johnson has been honored as a National Achievement Scholarship Semi-finalist.
More than 160,000 high school juniors from the United States requested acceptance in this scholarship program by marking this designation on their PSAT tests. From this number, only approximately 1,600 high school seniors have been designated as semi-finalists.
Alyssa is one of four students in Greenville County who have been given the opportunity to compete for the National Achievement Scholarship Award.
Dodgens connects students through virtual learning
Mauldin High School Social Studies teacher Wes Dodgens and his WWII History students were able to listen and view an interactive virtual speaker, Dr. Lester Terry.
Dr. Terry was a survivor of the Bataan Death March during WWII and brought his survival story to Mauldin High School students from a video/audio link from the WWII Museum in New Orleans. Through the use of technology, Dodgens is providing to his WWII History class a chance to connect, listen, view, and experience a first-hand, powerful account of a significant historical event.
