Mayor Rick Danner and council members Jay Arrowood, Kimberly Bookert and Wryley Bettis were sworn in Tuesday night to serve another four years on City Council. Their terms run through 2015.

Municipal Judge Henry Mims swore the four in with family members holding the Bible for each.

The City of Greer Election Commission, as required by state law, certified the elections involving unopposed candidates.

Danner is serving his fourth term as Mayor.  Arrowood, (District 1) is serving a third term, Bookert (District 3) her first full term and Bettis (District 5) a fourth term.

Bookert fulfilled the term previously held by Sandra Anderson who was serving her fifth four-year term when she died in March 2010. Bookert was unopposed in that special election.

Charles Lindsey originally filed to oppose Bookert but was declared ineligible by the State Ethics Commission, which reported that it did not receive his mandatory Statement of Economic Interests and Campaign Disclosure Report.

Councilman Wayne Griffin was unanimously elected as Mayor Pro Tempore. He takes over from former Pro Tem Wryley Bettis.

The City of Greer’s municipal general election on July 24 will have one contested race. Incumbent Perry Williams and Jerry Balding are seeking the seat of Commissioner of Public Works, an at-large office.
