As the sole public official elected at large by the City of Greer I think I have a pretty good understanding of what it takes to successfully represent a large, diverse, growing community which makes up a large portion of the SC Senate District 5. I also understand that the Greer community is much larger than its actual incorporated limits so I have a vested interest in knowing that those Legislative members elected to represent our community have a similar understanding and commitment to the Greer area. Given this background I want to endorse and support the efforts of Amanda Somers as she seeks the office of State Senator for District 5.
Amanda has demonstrated her commitment to her community through her ongoing service as an active Christian, chamber member, small business owner and volunteer. Being so active in the community gives her a connection to the community that only comes from the kind of genuine conversations that occur at the grass roots level. At ease in conversation with the man on the street to the Chairman of the Board, Amanda is an effective listener who will serve her constituents with respect and timely responses. Amanda is a problem solver that understands that all her constituents deserve and will receive her full attention to their issues and problems.
Having started and operated a successful small business gives her the tools and insight to make prudent and responsible budget and spending decisions that are so critical to us individually and as a business community. Her management and effective operation of her business, SSI, and advocacy for her industry and small business at the state and federal levels demonstrate her commitment to those issues and causes that are important to her.
While all of the qualities that I have listed above make Amanda a worthy candidate, the most important reason I’ll be voting for her on June 12th is that she has the heart of a public servant. I ask you to join me in supporting Amanda Somers for SC Senate District 5.
