Thursday's preliminary winners at the Miss South Carolina pageant.
Winners were announced in six categories after the third night of preliminary competition.
Miss Lakeland’s Teen, Margaret Turner, won the Teen Rookie Talent award and received a $250 savings bond. She performed a jazz dance to “I Feel the Earth Move” by Martika. Turner also won the Overall Teen Talent award and received an additional $500 savings bond.
Miss Gamecock, Jordyn Lewis, won the Miss Rookie Talent Award and received a $250 scholarship. She performed a contemporary dance to “Strange Fruit” by Nina Simone. Lewis also won the overall Miss Talent Award and received an additional $750 scholarship.
Miss Powdersville, Rachel Carter, won the Miss Evening Gown Award and received a $750 scholarship.
The Miss South Carolina 2023 Competition continues Friday at 7 p.m., with the crowning of Miss South Carolina’s Teen 2023.
Miss South Carolina 2023 will be crowned live on WACH Fox TV on Saturday beginning at 8 p.m.
Miss South Carolina 2023 will receive a $60,000 scholarship and will compete for the title of Miss America. Miss South Carolina’s Teen 2023 will receive a $10,000 scholarship and will compete for the title of Miss America’s Outstanding Teen.
