A vehicle accident early this morning left 389 residents in the Mt. Vernon Estates area without power for almost four hours, Greer CPW officials reported.
A customer in the area notified CPW at 5:05 a.m. of the power outage. The Greer utility company, upon arriving at the source of the outage, found a power pole had been broken.
Crews had to reroute the power supply from several locations while the pole was replaced. By 6:22 a.m. the outage was isolated to 188 customers and by 6:45 a.m. only four customers remained without power. All affected customers were back on line by 8:50 a.m., officials said.
Greer CPW responded to customers and public inquiries via phone and by posting updates to its Facebook page and Twitter.
