The Cancer Society of Greenville County is hosting a new educational series – Navigating The Journey.
This is a 6-week ongoing series of classes for cancer patients and their caregivers. The classes cover a variety of topics that will be of interest to newly diagnosed patients, as well as those who have been in treatment. Some of the classes will appeal to patients who are finished with their treatments, but still experiencing side effects.
Classes will address common physical and emotional concerns of cancer survivors, family members and caregivers.
The first three weeks of classes will be repeated each quarter and the second set of classes will vary with different topics. Patients can attend as many or as few classes as they like. The classes do not build on one another. The topics for the first six weeks are:
• Cancer 101: Navigating cancer treatment and side effects
• Navigating Nutrition now and after treatment
• Navigating the emotions of a cancer diagnosis
• Navigating cancer through integrative therapies
• Navigating Recipes for nutrition and taste
• Navigating sexuality during and after cancer treatment (females only)
The classes, free and one hour, will be held on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. beginning Jan. 10. All classes will be held at the Cancer Society of Greenville County office (113 Mills Avenue) and will be led by area oncology professionals, nurses, counselors and nutritionists.
