The students of Washington Center were recently presented with a positioning "Chill-out Chair," thanks to the generosity of neighboring school, Sara Collins Elementary.
More than $2,000 in funds for the purchase were generated through a yard sale held by Sara Collins PTA. The chair will be located in the Washington Center Multi-Sensory Area to afford comfortable seating for the school’s orthopedically impaired students.
Washington Center PTA holds Walk & Roll Fundraiser
The Washington Center PTA held the annual Washington Center Walk & Roll Fundraiser April 26 on the Simpsonville Brookwood Church campus.
This one-mile walk was a special event for the students, families, friends and sponsors. WYFF News Anchor, Carol Goldsmith, again served as the Grand Marshal.
The event's purpose is to raise community awareness for Washington Center as the district’s special needs school. As a secondary goal, the walk serves as an opportunity to raise funds for the school's unique instructional needs.
Students from area schools attended to give extra assistance and encouragement. The Klaver Klub sorority also attended to present a donation of $5,000.
