The gift by Roberson, a long-time supporter of NGU, puts the college over its 5-year, $25 million GIFT God Capital Campaign in just over two and a half years.
NGU President Jimmy Epting announced, at today’s press conference, that an increased “Hallelujah Goal” of $42.7 million has been set and approved by the university’s board of trustees. This extended goal has been set for the remaining years of the capital campaign scheduled for completion in 2015.
“With the current economic climate, we have been truly blessed with friends like the Robersons who realize the importance of Christ-centered higher education,” said Epting. “This is a historic day in the life of His institution.”
Roberson’s first gift in 2003 allowed the school to build the Marshall H. and Georgia T. Roberson Residence Hall which houses 68 female resident students on the campus. In 2006, she established a scholarship to assist full-time students who maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher with their tuition expenses.
In addition to the $25.5 million raised, the revised priorities for the $42.7 million campaign includes:
• $4.8 million addition to the school’s endowment
• $4.8 million for a multipurpose indoor athletic/worship center
• $3.5 million for the Academic Village at Tigerville
• $1.2 million science building renovation/addition
• $1.5 million for residence halls
• $650,000 for athletic complex additions
• $750,000 for a building endowment.
