North Greenville University's baseball team celebrates its championship win Saturday.
Columbus State forced a final championship game when it beat NGU 4-3 to even the best-of-3 series at one win each. It was North Greenville’s record setting 50th win of the season.
NGU took control of the championship game with a six-run first inning highlighted by Pat Monteith’s three-run home run. Ethan Stringer hit a 2-run homer in the seventh inning.
NGU advances to the DII World Series June 4-11 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C. It's NGU's first trip to the World Series.
