Spartanburg remained undefeated and Riverside winless after five games. It was the first Region game for both teams.
The Riverside Warriors trailed at halftime 49-0 for the second straight week. Spartanburg used reserves throughout the second half.
Through five games Riverside has been outscored 231 – 16 points. Ironically, Riverside’s seven points versus Spartanburg was the most points scored in one game.
Spartanburg’s Austin Scott tossed three touchdown passes, Eddie Rice recovered a fumble in the end zone for a TD and Mike Murphy added 34-yard interception return for another score to build a 35-0 first quarter lead.
The Warriors were held to minus three yards in the first quarter and only managed 38 in the first half. Spartanburg had 433 total offensive yards in the first half.
Riverside travels to Boiling Springs next Friday. Byrnes beat Boiling Springs 28-23 Friday.
