Billy Wade Carpenter, 92, husband of Sue Sizemore Carpenter of Lyman, SC, passed away peaceably on November 11, 2022.

He was the last surviving child born to the late Tom C. and Flora Adams Carpenter in Greenville, SC, where he grew up in the Dunean Community. He graduated from Parker High School, class of 1947. After high school, he attended the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC, but then left to join the US Air Force, where he was stationed in Sacramento, California during the Korean War.

He later returned to the University of South Carolina and graduated with BS degree in 1956 from the School of Pharmacy.

Billy was the owner and operator of Lyman Drug Store for 48 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lyman, SC. He loved to play golf where he was a member of Holly Tree Country Club. He loved all sports, especially Gamecock football, basketball, and baseball.

Surviving:

In addition to his wife, Sue, of 70 years, he is survived by his daughter, Cathy Carpenter Letton (Jimmy), his grandchildren, Lauren and Jimmy Letton, of Daniel Island, SC, and his daughter-in-law, Sheila Carpenter of Duncan, SC.

He was predeceased by his son, David; two brothers, Tommy and Charles; and three sisters, Mildred Glenn, Eleanor Cranford, and Lois McKinney.

Funeral Services:

Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, November 14, 2022, at Wood Memorial Park, conducted by Rev. Bill Morris.

Visitation will be held Monday following the service at the gravesite.

The family is at the home.

In lieu of flowers, Billy would want memorials made to Lyman First Baptist Church, 80 Groce Road, Lyman, SC 29365 or Spartanburg Regional Hospice House, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
