Dr. Ralph James Brown, 97, went to be with the Lord on February 8, 2023.

A life long resident of Greer, S.C., he was the son of the late Grover and Evie Mitchell Brown.

After serving in the United States Navy during WWII, he graduated from Furman University and the Medical College of Virginia. Ralph became a dentist serving the Greer Community for over 35 years.

Dr. Brown was a member of Greer First Baptist Church since 1946 where he served for many years as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and basketball coach.

He served on the original board of directors for Greer Community Ministries, The Furman University trustee board, The General Board of the SC Baptist Convention, Board of Greenville Hospital System, and was a member of the Greer Lion Club.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who delighted in his family.

Surviving:

Surviving are his beloved wife of 76 years, Erlene Harvey Brown; two daughters, Karen Beason (Sam), and Kathy Lenser (Craig); four grandchildren, Katie Beason Tuten (Will), Emily Beason Vidovich (Aaron), Kyle Lenser, and David Lenser; two great-grandchildren, Owen and Campbell Tuten; one brother, Hugh Brown; one sister, Dot Forrester (Reynold); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dr. Brown was predeceased by five brothers, Mac Brown, Arnold Brown, Preston Brown, William Brown, and Ben Stokes; and four sisters, Sue Jenkins, Lois Reece, Iva Brown, and Merzie Brown.

Funeral Services:

The family wishes to give special thanks to our wonderful care givers, Interim Hospice, and Dr. Lynetter Guirao who have all given exceptional and compassionate care to our dad.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2023, at The Wood Mortuary Chapel conducted by Dr. Stewart B. Simms, Jr., Dr. Steve Crossland, and Dr. Doug Mize.

Visitation will be held 12:30 - 1:45 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2023, at The Wood Mortuary.

The family will be at the home.
