Ellen Irene Tillotson Rogers went into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior January 18, 2022. Precious memories of her will forever be embedded in our hearts until we meet again in heaven.
A native of Greer, daughter of the late Dennis and Irene Talley Tillotson, she loved teaching children. She taught at Skyland Elementary School for 39 years.
After graduating from Greer High School, she earned her associates degree at Anderson Jr. College and earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree at Furman University.
Mrs. Rogers had a lifelong love of learning. She shared her musical skills by singing in the Anderson Singers, Furman Singers, and the church choir. Ellen was an active member at Taylors First Baptist Church and an active participant with her dearly loved friends in her Ferguson Dorn Sunday School Class.
She was a lovely person always willing to share a smile and kind words. She loved people and made friends wherever she went. Mrs. Rogers was a selfless and tender hearted person who loved to share the message and hope of Jesus Christ with those around her. She was a dedicated wife and mother.
Surviving are her loving husband of 44 years, James Howard Rogers of the home, they met during Bible study at Paris Mountain; one son Alexander Stirling Rogers of Taylors; one daughter, Brittany Elyse Marshall (Billy) of Hendersonville, N.C.; one sister, Elaine Hill of Cameron; three grandchildren, Elijah Rogers, Karis Marshall, Abigail Marshall; mother-in-law, Alta Rogers, sister-in-law, Anne Threall; several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Mrs. Rogers was predeceased by two brothers, George Tillotson and Truman Tillotson.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Taylors First Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Jerry Long. Burial will follow in Graceland East Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held 12:00-12:45 PM Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Taylors First Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Theall, Jeremy Theall, Alexander Rogers, and Billy Marshall.
