Elmer Boyce Duncan, 86, of S. Glassy Mountain Road, died July 26, 2013 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
A native of Greenville County, son of the late Hiriam Boyce and Carrie Belle Atkins Duncan, he was a U.S. Army Veteran during the Korean War, a former employee of Pilot Life Insurance Company, and a retired employee of Greenville County Road and Bridge Department.
He was past commander of D.A.V. Chapter 39 Greer and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon and training union director.
Surviving are his wife, Carrie Lee Burrell Duncan of the home; two daughters, Thelma Owings (Joe) and Wanda Green all of Greer; three grandchildren, Hannah Lawrence, Woody Owings, and Chris Owings; and eight great-grandchildren.
Mr. Duncan was predeceased by his step-mother, Annie Maude Crowe Duncan, three brothers, C.J., Ralph, and Olin Duncan, and sisters, Helon Duncan and her twin sister, Thelma Duncan.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. Monday at The Wood Mortuary, conducted by Rev. Ronnie Williams and Rev. Larry Atkins. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jimmie Duncan, Chris Owings, Woody Owings, Steve Smith, Danny Heath, and Josh Lawrence.
Honorary escort will be the Sanctuary Sunday School Class of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday at The Wood Mortuary.
The family is at the home of Thelma and Joe Owings.
