Gladys Vera Pearson Nichols, 91, released the restraints of earth and entered heaven on June 12, 2017 at her home with her two sons present.
They cared for her the past two weeks with the assistance of Hospice Care of South Carolina.
She is the ninth of ten children born April 5, 1926 to the late Henry and Lillie Pearson of Greenville.
Gladys loved working in her yard tending the flowers, mowing the lawn, feeding the birds and many other creatures that would show up from time to time.
She loved her friends that would call, come by and just to "share".
She loved praying for her sons and their families involved in ministry of the local church. She was a member of Praise Cathedral.
She is survived by two sons, Rev. Wayne Nichols of Dublin, GA and Rev. Ron Nichols and wife Linda of Valdosta, GA; four grandsons, Dr. Brian Nichols and wife, Julie of Kennesaw, GA, Kevin Nichols of Macon, GA, Ronnie Nichols of Jacksonville, FL and Rev. Shawn Nichols and wife, Nancy of Modesto, CA; six great-grandchildren, Hayden, Tyler, Lindsay, Abigail, Josiah and Eliana; and one sister, Betty Johnson of Taylors.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Nichols (d.1983); siblings, Nellie, Ruth, Annie, Marvin, Albert, Toy and Margaret; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Nichols.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 15, 2017 at The Wood Mortuary, Greer, conducted by Rev. Eric Campbell. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held 12:30-1:45 p.m. Thursday at The Wood Mortuary.
