Harriett Posey Garrett Beam, died January 13, 2015, Loving mother, faithful wife, and trusted teacher/counselor/mentor, died peacefully surrounded by her family the way that she had expressed. With no fear and only knowledge of those she would soon see again.
After graduating from the University of Alabama she taught English and was a school counselor at Thompson High School, Siluria, Alabama. There she began laying the groundwork for a life to be remembered by all who knew her.
Upon retirement she continued to live and inspire others in a life that had an impact that spanned from Alabaster, Alabama to Greenville, South Carolina.
Her wishes were to be celebrated and the good times remembered at a time when most would mourn. Harriett was one that could only be described as someone who loved life and all of God's many beautiful creations.
She was the rainbow's rainbow, who's infectious smile and hugs that will always be remembered as a "warm and loving embrace, where the sincerity, warmth, and love" were without question.
Harriett is survived by her children Angel Garrett Harris (Eddie), Andy Garrett (Dona), grandchildren Adriane Harris Blackwood (Patrick), Andrew Harris (Amber), Austin Harris, Sy and Breanna Garrett, and great grandchild Ava Harris.
She is also survived by, her husband Joe Beam and his children, Suzanne Beam Erkens (Brian), Brian Beam (Bethany) and Jeffery Beam and grandchildren, Coleman, Dillon, Ben, Madaline, Haven, and Ezra.
Also surviving Harriett are her sisters Carolyn Posey and Donna Milliot (Fred), niece Katie Cochran Draper (Matt), nephew Adam Cochran (Jonita) and sisters-in-law Anne Crotzer (Bill) and Emily Sue Ariail.
A gathering to celebrate her memories and to honor her life will be held Friday January 16, 2015 at 1:30 pm, at Mountain View United Methodist Church, 6525 Mountain View Road, Taylors, SC 29687.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday 12 pm to 1:15 pm at the church prior to the service.
