Hazel Moon Calvert, 87, formerly of Greer, died September 22, 2013 at Laurels at Summit Ridge.

A native of Fairfield County, South Carolina, daughter of the late Theodore and Mary Hicks Sims, she was a retired employee of Belk Simpson and a member of Fairview Baptist Church, where she taught children and adult Sunday school classes.

She was a Girl Scout leader, volunteered at Greer Daily Bread Soup Kitchen, and was devoted to her church and her family.

Surviving:

Surviving are a daughter, Elsie Moon Callahan and her husband, Chris of Swannanoa, North Carolina; a brother, Rev. Theodore A. Sims and his wife, Dot of Rock Hill; two sisters, Mary Anne Shafer and her husband, John of Easley and Jo Fanchon Sims of Fountain Inn; a sister-in-law, Pat Grimes of Piedmont; two grandchildren, Amy Knight and her husband, Thom Gore of Greer and Lesley Gillespie and her husband, Daniel of Candler, North Carolina; and two great-grandchildren, Aurora Knight and Tripp Gillespie.

Mrs. Calvert was predeceased by her first husband, Roy B. Moon and second husband, Dewey Calvert.

Funeral Services:

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Wood Memorial Park, conducted by Pastor Joe Friddle and Dr. Tom Burns.

The families are at their respective homes.
