Kenneth Michael "Mike Papa" Fowler, 72, of Greer, SC, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 30, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family.
He was born to the late Thurlow and Anna Carrie Forrester Fowler, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and cherished memories.
A proud graduate of Blue Ridge High School, Mike dedicated his working years to cabinet building before embracing a well-deserved retirement. His faith was a guiding light throughout his life, a testament to his deep-rooted Christian beliefs.
Mike found solace and joy in the simplicity of life's pleasures, particularly in the company of his lifelong friend, Nelson Mills, with whom he shared countless hunting and fishing adventures. His infectious smile and magnetic personality ensured that he never met a stranger, bringing laughter and light to all who crossed his path.
Family was Mike's greatest treasure, and he cherished every moment spent with his beloved children and grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, survived by his daughters, Tammy A. Vaughn (Steve) of Belton, SC, and Melissa A. Kern (Danny) of Greer, SC, as well as his sons, Brad R. Fowler of
Greenville, SC, and Jerry M. Olmos of Greenville, SC.
Mike's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apples of his eye, each holding a special place in his heart. He is survived by his grandchildren Bradley (Katie), Christian (Cody), Brittany (Kelsey), Jessica (Kobe), Brooke (Wyatt), Julianna (Jalen), Ashlynn, and Madalynn, along with great-grandchildren Anslei, Tinslei, Liz, Jackson, Carter and one great-grandchild, Michael, on the way. Long time friend and brother, Nelson Mills.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his daughter, Holly D. Fowler, and his son, Paul E. Fowler, whose memories he cherished dearly.
A celebration of Mike's life will take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Fews Chapel United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Terry Greene. Prior to the service, friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation hours from 1:30 to 2:45 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Kidney Foundation, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, Maryland 20852, honoring Mike's memory and his battle with kidney disease.
