Leonard Earl "Dusty" Turner, 93, widower of Gaynelle Center Turner, died November 6, 2013 at The Cottages at Brushy Creek.
A native of Greenville County, son of the late Talmadge and Bertha Howard Turner, he was a U.S Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII and was in the Invasion of Normandy, the owner of Turner Grading, and a member of Highland Baptist Church. Mr. Turner was a member of the Tyger Masonic Lodge and of the Hejaz Shrine.
Surviving are his caregiver, Joyce Strange of Landrum; a brother, Tony Turner of Greer; a sister, Ruth T. Henson of Landrum; and a special friend, Eloise Hawkins of Taylors.
Mr. Turner was predeceased by two brothers, Will Turner and Carl "Slab" Turner and a sister, Agnes Crain.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Highland Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Malcolm Lance and Rev. Mickey Thomas. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be the following nephews; Don Turner, Tim Crain, Butch Turner, Cory Taylor, Nick Barbare, and Ryan Strange.
Honorary escort will be the Men's Sunday School Class of Highland Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at The Wood Mortuary.
The family is at the home.
