Lois Seidel Newell, age 89, passed away peacefully April 26, 2017.

She was born July 31, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio to Alfred and Edith Seidel and grew up in Worcester, MA.

Everyone who knew her would remember her accent, the stories of her New England upbringing and the pride she took in her family's Danish background.

Lois was a highly educated woman, who attended Lasell College, an innovative institution known for its radical approach to women's education at the time.

Lois married Albert Marshall Newell in 1950 and began her newlywed life in the Greenville-Spartanburg area after Albert was relocated to the South.

Always an ambitious and independent woman, Lois quickly found a position and held a steady career as an executive administrative assistant at American Air Filter and the Greenville Fire Department.

She was also a longstanding member at Northside United Methodist Church and actively involved in the United Methodist Women.

She was also the "Sunshine Lady" for the Dellwood Community, where she lived for more than 50 years.

Lois always considered her family her greatest legacy and is survived by her daughter Elizabeth (Betsy) Fore and her husband Jack Fore (deceased); her daughter Margaret (Meg) Moore and her husband Tim; her grandchildren and their spouses: Allison and Kevin Duncan; Lauren and Robbie Septon; Philip Moore; Carolyn and Carlos Arias; and Eric Fore; and three great grandchildren: Tom, Graham and Annie.

She is predeceased by her son Peter Newell.
