Mary Martha Gill Hawkins, 87, of Duncan, died at Ashlan Village on July 28, 2013.
She was born on September 6, 1925 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Benjamin Franklin and Ethel Mae Gill. She was married to the late Patrick Harry Hawkins for 59 happy years.
Martha worked for Jackson Mills from 1946 to 1968 and Spartan Mills from 1968 until her retirement in 1990. She was an active member of Immanuel Methodist where she served in many capacities. She was a member of the Martha Page Chapter 283 of the Eastern Star, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Mid City Shrine Club, treasurer for the Piedmont Chapter of the American Ex POW?s, and Adjutant for the State of South Carolina American Ex POW?s.
Martha is survived by her son, PeeWee Hawkins and his wife, Susan; a daughter, Patti Hawkins Robison and her husband, Sammy; one sister, Iona Gill League of Midway, Kentucky; three granddaughters, Mandy Edwards and her husband, Neel, Beth Robison, and Susan Hand and her husband, Brandon; and two great-grandchildren that she enjoyed immensely, Neel Patrick Edwards and Kayleigh Brielle Hand.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 29, 2013 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at The Wood Mortuary in Greer.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at The Wood Mortuary Chapel. Internment will follow in Wood Memorial Park.
