Mary Dempsey Allred, 88, passed away on February 14, 2016.

Born in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Ressie Cox Dempsey.

She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Christian Fellowship Sunday School Class and the Susanna Wesley Circle.

Mrs. Allred was active for many years in the United Methodist Women and also served as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for 35 years.

She worked at Pacific Mills in Lyman and later became a homemaker.

She will be fondly remembered for her bright smile, giving nature and kind personality.

She and her late husband, Carl C. Allred, enjoyed traveling and they visited many destinations.

Surviving:

Surviving are her son, Richard Dale Allred (Sherri) of Greenville and five grandchildren, Lauren Allred, Matthew Allred, Bailee Allred, Jonathan Barber and Matthew Barber.

Mrs. Allred was predeceased by her loving husband, Carl C. Allred, twin sister, Martha "Mott" Blackwell and her sister, Willie Mae Frady.

Funeral Services:

Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 7 Shannon Drive, Greenville, SC 29615, conducted by Rev. Alex Stevenson.

Burial will follow in Wood Memorial Park.

Honorary escorts will be the Christian Fellowship Sunday School Class and the Susanna Wesley Circle.

The family will receive friends 1:00-2:20 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 7 Shannon Drive, Greenville, SC 29615 or Meals on Wheels of Greenville, 15 Oregon St., Greenville, SC 29605.
