Regena Bettie Sweezy Short, 94, widow of Buren Hix Short, passed away on August 23, 2018.
A native of Greenville County, daughter of the late James Edward and Sallie Mae Hoxit Sweezy, she was the retired owner/operator of First Lady and The Play Curl Beauty Shop and a charter member of Praise Cathedral.
Surviving are two daughters, Wynona Jean Lyda of Greer and Judith Marie Cason (Jim) of Taylors; one son, Buren Hix ?Red? Short Jr. (Sarabeth) of Lyman; one sister, Erin Mauldin of Tampa, FL; six grandchildren, Pamela Sloan (Tim); Timothy Sloan (Cindy), Parker Sloan (Meredith), Brent Short, Matthew Waters (Carol Ann) and Angela Raines (Michael) nine great-grandchildren, Brittany Sloan (Preston), Addison Sloan, Victoria Sloan, Mattie Sloan, Heather Sloan, Konner Raines, Ava Raines, Malena Waters and Mia Waters and three great-great-grandchildren, Brayden Sloan, Layne Sloan and Finley Sloan.
Mrs. Short was predeceased by three brothers, Alex Sweezy, John Sweezy and Jim Sweezy and three sisters, Katherine Lundstrom, Mary Bates and Annette McSwain.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Praise Cathedral, conducted by Rev. Jerry Madden and Rev. Bobby Johnson. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Parker Sloan, Matthew Waters, Michael Raines, Preston Sloan, Konner Raines and Tim Sloan.
Visitation will be held 1:30-2:45 p.m. Sunday at the church.
The family is at the home.
