Ruby Azaline Williams Banister, 100, of Lyman, SC went to be with the Lord Sunday, April 18, 2021 because she had accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour March 17, 1946.

A native of Spartanburg County, she was a daughter of the late General Broadus and Mary Attie Henson Williams.

She started her career as a teacher at Ellen Woodside and finishing at her alma mater Jordan High School, then worked at J.C. Penney.

She then took time off working outside the home to have and lovingly raise her only child, Joy at 42 years old. Later, she worked as a bookkeeper for the uniform drivers at Rental Uniform Service.

She was active in several area churches being the wife of a minister of music. When Gordon retired, she and her family returned to her home church, Mount Lebanon Baptist Church where she has been an active member since 1977.

Surviving:

Surviving are her daughter, Joy B. Leonard (Mark); three grandchildren, Hannah L. Walker (T.J.), Seth Leonard and Jesse Leonard; one great-grandson, Daxxton Walker; one sister, Evelyn W. Allen; several nieces, nephews, cousins and her beloved Willing Workers Sunday School Class.

She was predeceased by her husband, W. Gordon Banister and six siblings, Coney W. Adkins, Cozie W. Lane, Woodrow Williams, Katie W. Henson, Smiley Williams, and Olea W. Smith.

Funeral Services:

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Mark Smith and Delano McMinn.

Honorary escort will be the Willing Workers Sunday School Class.

Visitation will be held 12:30-1:45 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

The family is at the home of her daughter, Joy.
