Ruth Stansell Ashmore, wife of Russell C. Ashmore Jr., daughter of Ernest and Eloise Stansell, born in Belton, SC on Aug. 1, 1930, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Oct. 14, 2016, just after celebrating her 65th wedding anniversary on Oct. 13.

Known to all as Mama Ruth, she had the life goal of making sure anyone who came in touch with her would be well fed before leaving her sight. Ruth was a member of Taylors First Baptist Church for 56 years. She received the WYFF4 Jefferson Award for community service in 2000 and led the Taylors First Baptist Bereavement Committee for 45 years.

Ruth delivered Meals on Wheels for many years with most all of her grandchildren in tow at some point or another, modeling the true meaning of love and joyfully serving others.


Surviving:

Ruth is the loving mother to four children and their spouses: Russell C. Ashmore III (Marilyn), Dianne Ashmore Stewart (Billy), Mark Ashmore, Gregory Charles Ashmore, Sr. (Paige), and Lauri Ashmore; the loving grandmother to 12 grandchildren: Adrienne Hammonds (Sammy), Alissa Ruth Stewart, Laura Casey (Brad), Katie Mize (Chris), Andy Ashmore, Russell C. Ashmore IV (Heather), Jessica McClintock (Mike), Sarah Benefield (Shane), Austin Ashmore (Antoinette), Katharine Anne Ashmore, Gregory Charles Ashmore, Jr, and Stansell Ashmore; and the loving great-grandmother to 16 great-grandchildren: Alec and Aneliese Morales, Brycelyn and Adelyn Casey, Zeke, Hannah, and Linc Mize, Delaney, Hannah, and Russell C Ashmore V, Penelope Ruth, Lucia, and Eliotte McClintock, Callie and Collin Popoloski, and Connor Benefield. She is predeceased by a grandson, Russ Cecil Ashmore.

She has one surviving sister, Frances Haddon. She was predeceased by a brother Charles Stansell, and a sister, Helen Duckworth.

Funeral Services:

Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 2016 at Taylors First Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Jimmie Harley and Rev. Paul Jimenez. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held 1-2:15 p.m. Monday at the church.
