Sylvia Godfrey Giles, 89, widow of Theron Huff Giles, died January 26, 2015. Jesus took her hand, opened His gate and led her to her garden.

A native of Spartanburg County, daughter of the late Ashford L. and Bessie Cudd Godfrey, she was a homemaker, a teacher, music director and a member of Memorial United Methodist Church.

Surviving:

Surviving are two daughters, Selene G. Rivers of Boiling Springs, and Theresa G. Tucker (Sonny) of Greer; one son, Jon Giles (Jackie) of Pinehurst, N.C.; five grandchildren, Heather Brown (Lynn), Andrew Rivers (Lisa), Shelly Johnson, Kendra Bridwell (John) and Wes Tucker (Samantha) and eight great-grandchildren, Marley and Theron Rivers, Graham Johnson, Logan and Jeb Bridwell, Max, Ollie and Maris Tucker.

Mrs. Giles was predeceased by a son-in-law, Jim Rivers, fourteen brothers and sisters.

Funeral Services:

A celebration of her life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Memorial United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Joseph Curtis.

Camak Sunday School class will serve as Honorary Escort.

Visitation will be held following the service in the church social hall.
