Realignment moves Greer to Region II-3A

Greer has been moved to Region II-3A for the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 seasons. The South Carolina High School League advised schools of the realignment today.

Greer Athletic Director Travis anticipated the move to the mostly Greenville County schools. Greer will play in a region with Berea, Blue Ridge, Eastside, Greenville, Pickens, Southside and Travelers Rest.  

Below is the rank, school and projected enrollment in Region II-3A:

Schools may file a written appeal with the SCHSL by Aug. 12 if they are not satisfied with their region. Appeals will be heard on the same date as each classification meeting later this month and in September.

Administrators among the state schools agreed to increase the number of teams to 52 from 48 in the top three regions in Class 4A, 3A and 2A to provide better geographic balance.
Schools were placed in regions according to their projected enrollments.

Riverside will play in Region II-4A with Boiling Springs, Byrnes, Dorman, Gaffney, Mauldin, Spartanburg and Wade Hampton.

Greer Middle College will compete in Region II-1A with The South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind, Brashier Middle College, Christ Church, Greenville Tech Charter, Southside Christian, St. Joseph’s and Whitmire. Greer MC, Brashier, Greenville Charter and SCSDB will not play football.  Whitmire will only participate in the region in football.
