Riverside High School sophomore Karen Zhao is the first female to win the championship in the 3rd Annual Cardboard Boat Race.
The event, held April 25 at the Middle Tyger YMCA pool in Duncan, drew more than 100 people.
Mr. Nicely's Honors Physics class competed in race.
Warrior of the Month
Freshmen Warriors of the Month for April: Jacqueline Anderson, Lauren Brady, Andres Carillo, Ikumi Chigusa, Manon Courbon, Danielle DeLunca, Chase Garrett, Christian Garrido, Michael McMurrary, Kirellos Meshreky, Taylor Pagan, Emauelle Ranaldi, Samantha Rivera, Sloan Somers and Molly Young.
The students were nominated by their teachers for showing "True Warrior Spirit" in and out of the classroom and were honored at a luncheon on April 22.
