RMS's Greene wins grandparent essay contest at state fair
Eight-grader Tori Greene's essay on why her grandfather, Wayne Harrington, should be chosen Grandparent of the Year was a convincing one. She won the distinction for Harrington as part of an essay competition sponsored by the S.C. State Fair.
As part of their 8th-grade English class, four of Maisie Hansen's classes submitted essays to the State Fair. The essay competition asked students to write a persuasive essay on why their grandparent should be chosen as Grandparent of the Year in S.C.
Tori won the contest for students ages 14 to 18, and the State Fair awards committee said Tori's essay was chosen out of thousands submitted. She and her grandfather were honored at a ceremony on Oct. 18 at the fair.
