The Lady Warriors’ Cline scored a game-high 13 points but Byrnes recorded a 47-33 victory in a Class 4A Region II basketball game at Riverside High School Tuesday night.
“I try to get as many points as I can each game, but also look to get better each game,” Cline said. “It feels good to help out my teammates, but without them I wouldn’t be able to make any shots.”
Byrnes had balanced scoring led by Victoria Shaw and Morgan Powe with eight points each.
“I think our team did good,” Cline said. “Byrnes played good defense, but as we played together as a team we were able to make some good shots and play a good game.”
The Warriors trailed 18-6 after the first quarter and could only close the gap to eight points by the end of the third quarter.
“We’re more of a second half team,” Head Coach Jenny Taylor said. “We settle into the game more and make adjustments that help us figure things out a little better.”
Riverside is 0-4 in the region and 1-7 overall. Byrnes improved to 3-1 in the region and 7-6 overall. Riverside plays at J.L. Mann Thursday at 6 p.m. Byrnes is at Dorman Friday at 6 p.m.
