Inducted into the Riverside High School Athletic Hall of Fame last Friday were, left to right, Marc Young, Jake Johnson, Tracy Rucker, Terry Archenold and Brent Delahoussaye.
The five new members were honored with a dinner at the school and recognition at halftime of the Greer versus Riverside football game.
Rucker played basketball, volleyball, softball and track. Her main sport was basketball where she earned multiple all-region and all-state honors. She was player of the year her senior year in region and state. Rucker recognized for several All-American teams her senior year. She played college basketball at Clemson.
Delahoussaye was a golf standout and 2000 graduate. His junior and senior year teams won the state championship. Delahoussaye was region champion his junior year and runnerup his senior year to Riverside teammate Bill Haas. He was state runnerup to Haas his junior and senior year. He played at the University of South Carolina, transferred and finished his college career at Clemson. He played on the web.com tour (formerly Nike and Nationwide tour) and earned his PGA tour card for one year.
Young began his baseball career with Riverside as a junior pitcher. He lost his first game and went on to win his next 28 starts, graduating in 2004. His high school team won two state championships, a national championship and a world championship. His college career was cut short by injuries. He was drafted out of high school but chose to go to college.
Johnson was a cross country and track standout, graduating in 1995. He was part of Riverside's 11 consecutive state cross country championships. While at RHS Johnson won four cross country championships and finished second his junior and senior years in four events at the state track meet. He went on to run in and win several marathons as a member of the U.S. Air Force. He finished 37th in his only Boston Marathon.
Archenhold coached Riverside girls soccer to 10 state championships and one runnerup from 1997-2014. Every girl he coached in his 20 years was a part of at least one state championship. He was named state coach of the year seven times.
