Riverside Middle School busy with activities, baseball champions and talent show winners

Science & Technology: Students in Mrs. Garner’s 8th grade science class used a world globe with a CBL (Computer-Based Laboratory) and temperature probe connected to a graphing calculator to model the earth and the sun during different seasons.  This activity allowed students to understand an abstract concept by interpreting data from a hands-on experiment using concrete objects, technology, and the interaction with peers.  The CBL was purchased by the school’s PTSA.

The Riverside Middle Baseball team won 1st place in the Greenville-Spartanburg Border War 2012.  Team members are:  Jackson Buda, Heath Dillard, Will Hensley, Kyle Honeycutt, Cameron Jenson, Hunter Johnson, Mathew Larson, Mason McGregor, Brett Mosher, Brooks O’Brien, Austin Powell, Joe Satterfield, Luke Stageburg, Tyler Stewart, and Davis Thurmond.  Brad Johnson is the team’s coach. Teams involved were: Mabry Middle School, Landrum Middle School, Campobello Gramling School, Spartanburg Christian Academy, Riverside Middle School, Berea Middle School, and Sevier Middle School.

On February 21, Riverside Middle School held its Family Night that featured booths from the Model UN students' Festival of Nations and a student talent show. The talent show was emceed by eighth-grade students Gail Holland and Kinsley Yant. Taking home the first place trophy was Kennedi Hunter, pictured here, singing “Because of You” by Vicki Yohe.
