Students get pointers from Warehouse Theatre
Erika Whatley and Amanda Sox, teaching artists with the Warehouse Theatre's This Wooden O outreach program, visited Gail Denton's 8th-grade ELA classes Nov. 6-7 to work with students on their performance skills.
During the two-day residency, students were involved in many kinesthetic activities that focused on referencing the text, examining point of view, determining character motivation and practicing other close reading skills.
Lessons were directly linked to students' work on William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Wayne Bobo of Century 3 and Josh Westmoreland of Diverse Industries recently visited Riverside Middle School students.
The students learned about robotics and different areas of engineering.
Students were able to learn about the different functions of robots, how they are programmed, and even got to see a demonstration of a robot in action.

Students learned about gathering important evidence, how the evidence is documented, and separating facts about crime scene investigation from what is portrayed in the media.
