Riverside (in blue) couldn't match up with the Hillcrest Rams Friday night in the Warriors' first game played at The Reservation.

Hillcrest tried its mightiest to score a season-high points against an overmatched Riverside football team Friday night. It did with a 70-3 victory.

Three long-range touchdowns took the steam out of the Warriors. Hillcrest’s Quentin Jefferson scored on a 77-yard punt return (first quarter), Quintavis Ballenger ran virtually untouched for a 70-yard touchdown (second quarter) and Brian Spurgeon ran a kickoff back 87-yards (third quarter) to lead Hillcrest’s scoring machine.

Hillcrest ran its two-season win streak to 12 consecutive games while running its record this year to 4-0. Riverside is 0-4.

Atoine Kahaleh scored Riverside’s points on a 36-yard field goal in the third quarter.

Riverside plays Spartanburg High School at Wofford College next Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Notebook:

• Kyle Honeycutt stopped a Hillcrest drive with an interception at the 2-yard line.

• Aaron Odom, quarterback, walked gingerly off the field after injuring a shoulder and did not return in the fourth quarter.

• Logan Dibenedetto subbed for Odom at quarterback.

• The televised game combined with extra timeouts and the scoring plays added about 25 extra minutes to the total time. The first quarter took 45 minutes to play.
