Austin Brouwer, a sophomore running back, will be playing in Riverside's first Class 4A playoff game.
Riverside will play its first Class 4A football playoff game versus Spartanburg at Wofford College on Friday night. Riverside is seeded 11th and Spartanburg 6th in Division II.
Greer is home for a second-round playoff game when Belton-Honea Path visits Dooley Field. Byrnes will host Boiling Springs in a 4A Division I first round game.
Riverside earned the playoffs with the No. 4 seed in Region II. The Warriors finished the regular season 4-3 in the region and 5-6 overall. Riverside is 3-2 in away games.
“It’s just a grind in Region II, a tremendous region and probably the best in the state,” Riverside Head Coach Phil Smith, said.
The Spartanburg Vikings completed its regular season 8-3 overall and 6-1 in Region II. The Vikings defeated Spartanburg 40-6 on Sept. 26.
Riverside reeled off a 4-2 record in the five games after Spartanburg, which included a 3-game region winning streak.
Tanner Pittman may be lost to Riverside during the playoffs. The senior starting linebacker went down with a knee injury with 2:35 left in the first quarter Friday night versus Dorman. He did not return to the game and is scheduled to have his knee examined Monday.
