Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.
LAST WEEK:
After snapping an 11-game losing streak against Woodmont two weeks ago, the Warriors traveled to Hillcrest hoping to stay in the win column but coming away with a 31-23 loss. Spartanburg lost its second-straight game, 42-10 to Greenwood.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING:
“We competed, so I’m happy with that part of it, but I’m not satisfied. Competing isn’t good enough. I want to win.” – Riverside Head Coach Steve Eoute.
THE RUNDOWN:
The two programs will meet on the football field for the first time Friday night as the Region II-4A season begins for both teams. The Vikings’ season began with an upset loss to Union County, and Spartanburg has yet to fully recover, managing 13 points combined in losses to Greenwood and South Pointe . . . . Riverside is looking for its first Region II-4A victory and the struggling Vikings seem ripe for the taking.
