Riverside High School and Middle School students were recognized Tuesday night at City Council for winning entries in the Black History Month Essay Contest promoted by the City of Greer.

Sarah Rzepczynski, an 11th grader at Riverside High School, is pictured on the home page representing the Black History Month Essay Contest winners.
It turned out to be an all Riverside ceremony. First through third place were awarded students from Riverside High School and Riverside Middle School. Students also earned cash awards with $75 for first place, $25 for second and $15 for third.
The contest required students write on an African-American that influenced American history.
