Riverside linemen get some coaching during the game at Greer's Dooley Field last week.
Something has to give on Friday night.
Both Riverside and Woodmont enter their head-to-head matchup with 0-2 records.
"Woodmont is a good football team that's well coached so we'll have to play mistake free to get our first victory of the year," Riverside Head Coach Phil Smith said.
Woodmont is coming off a 48-16 loss on Monday to Mauldin, a game postponed for three days due to inclement weather. Riverside also in a delay, lost to cross-town rival Greer, 49-6 on Saturday. Lightning knocked out the stadium lights at Dooley Field before kickoff Friday.
The Woodmont Wildcats boast several playmakers that the Warriors need to account for, including running backs Justin Oliver and Deonte Luster. That combination handed Woodmont an early lead against Mauldin, each scoring a touchdown, before the Mavericks took over in the second half.
"Defensively, we will have to improve on our tackling," Smith said. "We know their running game is good and will have to play discipline football."
Riverside counters with Hunter Faulk, the team's leading receiver, and quarterback Aaron Odom.
Odom has 139 yards passing through two games and Faulk has three catches for 65 yards. Reid Banish is the team's leading rusher with 32 yards on 15 carries.
The Warriors hope that everything comes together on Friday to get the team in the win column.
"We had some opportunities early against Greer and just weren't able to cash them in," Smith said. "I'm very happy with the effort of our guys. They don't quit and that's all I can ask of them."
