President of Junior Achievement Upstate South Carolina, Ms. Connie Lanzl, along with Junior Achievement Education Manager, Ms. Connie Sims, helped to facilitate a "Balancing the Budget" activity as part of the Economics for Success Module in Ms. Susan Mathewson’s Career Education class at Riverside Middle School.

Students were assigned an occupation with a related gross monthly income and they needed to calculate their net monthly income and then make decisions in the major budget categories: transportation, housing, food, transportation, clothing and entertainment.

• Mock Interview: The RMS Career Education students in Ms. Susan Mathewson’s class prepared all semester for their Mock Interview day. Students were interviewed by members of the business community that volunteered their time to take on the role of hiring manager.

The students were evaluated on their resume, having three references and being dressed for success along with how well prepared they were to answer interview questions and knowledge about the job and company they were interviewing for.
